The PIXMA range of
printers from Canon has always yielded good results in terms of document
printing and photo printing. The Canon iX4000 is no exception. This time
though Canon introduces a wide format printer capable of printing borderless
photos in sizes up to A3+. The exceptional photo quality is provided by
Canons FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology.
The iX4000 like most modern printers now uses a single ink system allowing
you to only change the colour that has run out. This saves on waste and
makes the iX4000 more economical for you.
While the iX4000 can
handle everything you need from it in the home, it is built for the office
or home office due to its fast speed of documents and graphics. Priced
slightly higher than the iP range of printers in the PIXMA series the iX4000
provides a faster printer which will handle a much higher print output.
Connection to the
iX4000 is done via a high speed USB 2.0 connection. USB 2.0 is up to 40
times faster than USB 1.1 which was the previous standard. USB 2.0 devices
can be plugged into USB 1.1 ports because of the backwards compatibility so
no need to worry about what port you computer contains. Unfortunately it
seems commonplace among printer manufacturers to not include a USB cable
with the printer so don't forget to order one when you make your purchase.

The iX4000 is
pictbridge compatible which means that you can print photo's directly from
any pictbridge enabled device such as a digital camera without the need to
have your PC switched on. Fantastic for printing off that new picture
quickly for your friends.
