The DX range of printers from Epson are aimed at the budget market and the casual home user. But What makes the DX4800 a budget printer is not a lack of quality printing and scanning. its simply a reduction of features that some of the more expensive machines have. The Epson DX4800 multifunction printer will give great results in text, graphics and photo printing, but the money is being saved with items such as an LCD screen on the printer being left out. Also the speed of the DX4800 is not the quickest. However you do get a decent multifunction printer for a minimal cost. The entire DX range is perfect for home users who don't have extensive printing needs.

Epson's DX4800 uses a single ink system in order to save wastage on ink and of course saves you money by allowing you to only replace the colour of ink that is running out. The inks are also Epson's high quality DuraBright inks for high contrast and long lasting prints. The DX4800 takes a step over the DX3800 by adding direct memory card printing as well as PictBridge direct printing with compatible cameras. Unfortunately the lack of LCD screen means you will have to print of an index page to choose the photo's you want to print from your memory card or alternatively upload your photo's to your PC.

Epson gives you a nice little piece of software called Epson's creativity suite. This is a helpful little utility that allows you to manage your photo's, send them to be printed. Name them, order them and send them on e-mails etc. Also something I personally like with my Epson printer is the Web to page function that you can add to your web browser. This automatically resizes web pages for you to print. The amount of time before this that web pages would not print correctly because they are not sized to A4. So all in all its a decent multifunction printer from Epson with a very nice price. It is still however a budget printer and should be treated as a you get what you pay for printer.
