The Epson Stylus R1800 is based on the R800 printer. The basics of the these two printers are identical. Where the R1800 takes over is the ability to print up to A3 in paper size giving you great options for large printers and the ability to print graphics and plans in much larger sizes. Just like the R800 the R1800 comes with a separate 8 ink system with unique Red, Blue and Gloss optimizer cartridges. More unique colours gives the R1800 the ability to produce colours that are more accurate to the original image as less blending is required. The gloss optimizer cartridge gives the R1800 an excellent touch for photos printed on Glossy photo paper helping the photo look and feel like it was produced in a photo lab.

The inks used in the R1800 or the UltraChrome set. UltraChrome developed by Epson was designed to give enhanced protection to photos printed from compatible printers. UltraChrome Inks were designed to resist water sunlight and gases for longer giving your photos a life of up to 100 years in archive conditions. Other conditions such as open air reduce the length of the life of your photos but UltraChrome Inks prolong the life of photos even in these non-perfect conditions. UltraChrome Inks are pigment based and not dye based, these inks require shaking before loading into a printer in order to prevent the ink settling at the bottom of the cartridge.

Epsons R1800 Inkjet printer can print labels on compatible CD's and DVD's. So now you can create your own CD's and DVD's and create your own cover, then Using the R1800 you can print directly onto the CD or DVD. Compatible CD's will have to have a label covering the disc. You cannot print onto non covered shiny discs and you don't want to try. Printing on the discs is easy with the R1800's simple tray loading system. Insert your CD and follow the instructions
